CAMBRIDGE — A Cambridge bar, its two owners and two of its staff members are facing 21 charges under the Liquor Licence Act in connection to a crash that killed a Puslinch man.
The St. Louis Bar and Grill and four individuals associated with it are facing Liquor Licence Act charges that include selling liquor to an intoxicated person, permitting drunkenness on licenced premises, and failing to facilitate inspection, Waterloo Regional Police said on Friday.
In the Nov. 6, 2019 crash, Jason Fach, 38, collided head-on with the car being driven by Kenneth Scott, 67, of Puslinch Lake. Scott, a father of two adult sons, died of his injuries a short time after.
Fach was sentenced earlier this month to six years in prison for impaired driving causing death. Fach had almost three times the legal amount of alcohol in his blood, according to the statement of facts read in court.
“The driver of the SUV, a 38-year-old Cambridge male, was determined to have left a licenced establishment prior to the collision,” said Waterloo Regional Police. “Alcohol was also determined to be a contributing factor to the collision.”
Fach had attended St. Louis Bar and Grill on Saginaw Parkway in Cambridge just after 5 p.m., already showing signs of intoxication. He then drank at least four, 20-ounce draft beers within an hour and, at 6:49 p.m., he got into his SUV, the court heard.
About five minutes later, he crashed into a parked vehicle and failed to stop. Then, just after 7 p.m. on Townline Road, he swerved into the northbound lane, striking Scott’s car.
Reached Friday by phone, a representative of St. Louis Bar and Grill in Cambridge said the establishment had no comment.
